Our Mission

At Bored Panda, we believe in the power of creativity to inspire, entertain, and bring people together. We are a lighthearted, community-driven platform where stories spark curiosity and joy. While our content celebrates fun and imagination, we take our ethical responsibilities seriously. We aim to provide a space where creativity thrives on trust, respect, and human integrity.

Who Is Responsible For Our Content

Editorial decisions at Bored Panda are made by our in-house editorial team, led by Content Director Julija Vercinske. Our team of writers, editors, and fact-checkers is listed on our Authors page.

Every article we publish carries a byline linking to the author’s profile, where you can see their background, expertise, and other work.

If you have questions about our editorial process or want to report a concern, contact us at [editorial@boredpanda.com].

Editorial Principles

  • Accuracy and truthfulness: Every story published on BoredPanda is expected to be accurate and responsibly sourced. We fact-check information to the best of our ability and avoid misleading or sensational claims.
  • Transparency: Readers deserve to know where our stories come from. We disclose our sources and any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Independence: Our editorial decisions are made without influence from advertisers, sponsors, or partners.

How We Source Our Stories

Much of our content begins with our community: stories shared on social platforms such as Reddit, X, TikTok, and Instagram, as well as direct submissions from readers and artists. Because of this, sourcing standards are central to our work:

  • Permission first. When we feature user-generated content, artwork, or photography, we seek permission from the original creator and credit them with a name and a link back to their work.
  • Verification. Viral stories are checked against the original post, the poster’s account history, and, where possible, additional sources before publication. If we cannot verify key details, we say so in the article or do not publish.
  • Anonymity and consent. When stories involve private individuals, we anonymize names and identifying details unless the person has made the information public themselves or has given us consent.
  • Expert input. For stories that touch on psychology, health, law, or finance, we reach out to qualified professionals for commentary and clearly identify them in the article.

AI, Human Authorship, and Content Creation

Commitment to Human Originality

At Bored Panda, all editorial articles, news summaries, and core narrative texts are written, edited, and fact-checked by human writers and editors. We are committed to human authorship as the foundation of our creative voice and editorial integrity. We do not use generative AI to produce the primary text of our articles, including headlines and article summaries.

AI as a Creative Tool

We acknowledge that AI is a powerful tool. When AI-powered tools are used in our content pipeline, for instance, in the generation of concept art, visual mock-ups, preliminary data analysis, or translation assistance, we are transparent about their use and ensure they never replace the original creativity, critical thinking, and ethical responsibility of our human team.

Where AI has contributed to visual or supplementary elements of a story, we label it within the article itself. Our audience will always know when AI has been used in the creative process.

Accuracy, Fact-Checking and Corrections Policy

Trust is the foundation of everything we publish. Mistakes sometimes happen, and when they do, we correct them promptly, quickly, and transparently. This policy applies to all editorial content on Bored Panda.

Our Fact-Checking Process

Every article goes through editorial review before publication. Editors review every story for accuracy, sourcing, and clarity before it goes live. Original stories and features are credited to individual writers; stories curated collaboratively by our team are credited to Editorial Staff.

Our verification process depends on the type of story:

  • News and current events: We rely on primary sources wherever possible: official statements, public records, court documents, original social media posts, and direct interviews. When we use secondary sources, we choose established and reliable outlets and link to them in the article.
  • Community and viral stories: Before featuring a viral post, we verify it against the original source, review the poster’s account and history, and, where possible, reach out to the original poster for comment or permission. If key details cannot be verified, we say so clearly in the article or do not publish the story.
  • Expert-informed content: For stories involving psychology, health, law, finance, or other specialized topics, we seek commentary from qualified professionals and identify them by name and credentials in the article.
  • Images: We select editorial images from agencies, official press materials, or Creative Commons sources with clear credit, or use them with the creator’s permission.

How We Handle Corrections

  • Factual errors: If we publish a factual error, we correct the article and add a visible correction note stating what was changed and the date of the correction. Factual corrections are always acknowledged, never made silently.
  • Updates: When a story develops, or new information emerges, we update the article and mark it as updated with a timestamp.
  • Minor fixes: Spelling, grammar, and style fixes that do not change the story’s meaning are updated silently.
  • Removals: We do not unpublish stories simply because someone dislikes them. In rare cases involving serious ethical concerns, such as risks to a private individual’s safety or privacy, we may remove or anonymize content. Such decisions are made by senior editors.

What a correction note looks like:

“Correction (June 12, 2026): An earlier version of this article misstated the year the photo series was published. It was 2019, not 2017.”

How to Report an Error

If you spot a mistake in any of our articles, we want to hear about it.

Please email editorial@boredpanda.com or use the feedback form linked at the bottom of every article.

Please include:

  1. The URL of the article
  2. The error you spotted
  3. If possible, a source supporting the correct information

We review every correction request and respond within 5 business days. If the report concerns a factual error, we correct the article and acknowledge the change as described above. If we conclude the article is accurate, we will explain why.

Accountability

Responsibility for this policy rests with our senior editorial team. Disagreements about whether a correction is warranted are escalated to the Editor-in-Chief, whose decision is final. Accuracy is not a one-time promise but a daily practice.
